Catherine Bergin

Catherine Bergin is a final-year PhD candidate in the History Department of Maynooth University, with a dissertation that focuses on escape lines in WWII. You can see Catherine talking about her research in an interview with Maynooth University here. After finishing her undergraduate degree in History and Sociology in 2006, she worked as an archaeologist for the summer of that year, and subsequently studied Archaeology in NUIG during the 2009-10 academic year. She has worked on excavation sites all over Ireland from Neolithic to Post-Medieval digs. With a passionate interest in the historical and cultural period of 1940s Europe, she returned to MU to undertake her doctoral research in this field in 2010.
